Construction on the Bruton Parish Episcopal Church in Colonial Williamsburg, VA began in 1677, three years after the Middle Plantation Parish was established. It was complete in 1683, but expanded in the 1690s when Williamsburg became the capital of the colony and the population rose. George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and Patrick Henry, among other colonial Virginia leaders, attended when the legislature was in session. Many of the early rectors also had appointments at the College of William and Mary. One, Rev. W. A. R. Goodwin, convinced John D. Rockefeller to invest in the authentic restoration of Colonial Williamsburg starting in the 1930s. That restoration included the current church building. These two photos are from a 2017 evening Christmas concert by the Tabernacle Baptist Church Choir from Richmond.
