Abnormal Day

Cold and cloudy days are a way of life in central PA in the winter. It was just 25 days ago that a pampered groundhog who resides 80 miles west of here supposedly saw his shadow and so made the not so surprising prediction that the cold and gloom would continue for another six weeks. That being the norm, today was an aberration. The sun showed brightly all day and thermometers rose to 54 degrees at mid-afternoon, providing a great opportunity to get out in the fresh air and sunshine. On the Penn State Campus, students broke out shorts, Ts and summer tops, and flip-flops. I took advantage of the weather by taking a serious ride on the new bicycle the family got me for Christmas. I did a couple of laps around the block after picking up the bike, but this afternoon I went for a first extended ride - 12 miles. Great day! Great ride! Great bike!
