A Little Out of the Way, But Worth It!
If you are traveling on I-80 in western PA, a stop at the Iron Bridge Inn is well worth the few minutes it takes to get there from Exit 15 (Mercer) – for the great food and drink, atmosphere, and moderate prices. The Inn is located on PA Route 19 about three miles south of Exit 15. The Inn was established in 1979 by the Springfield Restaurant Group adjacent to a locally well-known Iron Bridge built in 1928 across Neshannock Creek. That iron bridge replaced a former wooden bridge, and was itself replaced by a concrete structure in 2014. The Inn’s lodge-like interior is rustic, very cozy, and accented with two fireplaces, and wildlife and antique displays. A very interesting sign that hung over the original wooden bridge is prominently displayed. The former Iron Bridge is in the background of the group photo - my wife’s siblings and spouses.
