EPCOT

EPCOT, which stands for Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow, was a very ambitious conception of Walt Disney. He envisioned a experimental city where planning, building, transportation and associated technologies could be tested and showcased. The real city was to be financially supported by a Florida version of the Magic Kingdom. After Walt passed, the conception was modified. Guiding ideas that were to be included in EPOT, e.g., monorail, were used in the development of a much larger Walt Disney World amusement park, but the model city did not materialize. EPCOT opened in 1982.
