In 2014 when new videoboards were added above the north and south end zones of Beaver Stadium on the University Park Campus of Penn State, Nittany Lion logos were added to the outward facing/ back sides. According to news.psu.edu, the videoboards each measure approximately 50 x 40 yards and the logos approximately 35 x 25 feet. Each logo contains 14,000 LED lights that are both very efficient and have a life of 50,000 hours. Two years later the logos were taken down by crane, opened, and maintenance work of some type completed (see photo above).

This summer, the logo on the south video board needed to be repaired – a workman indicated it was wind damage. This time a window washer type scaffold was used. As per the following photos taken at sunset, many observers believe the back lighting gives the appearance that the logos are floating.
