The 2018-19 Class of Humphrey Fellows have arrived at Penn State. This week was an orientation and settling-in period that culminated with a Friday evening Pot Luck at Millbrook Marsh Nature Center and a Sunday trip to the Centre County Grange Fair. (See my 8/17/18 blog entry, "The Reason...", for information on the Grange Fair.) The Pot Luck was the first opportunity for staff from the College of Education International Programs Office, the new fellows and their community hosts to get together as a group.
Sue and I are pleased to be the community hosts this year for Dr. Gulnora Bogdalovam. Gulya is a lecturer in psychology at Tashkent State Pedagogical University in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Her daughter, Janset, will join her in about a month and be attending Mount Nittany Middle School where Jane teaches. I expect to add posts across the next 10 month on the 2018-19 Humphrey Fellows. (See my 5/31/18 post entitled “People to People” for background on the Humphrey Fellow Program with particular references to the 2017-18 class and the fellow we hosted then..
