One of many around the world, a replica of Lady Liberty standing in the middle of the Susquehanna River Narrows has been a road-side attraction in Dauphin, PA (north of Harrisburg) since 1986. However, none of the thousands of vehicles that pass daily on US 322 can pull to the side of the road to view it or take photos because at the Narrows railroad tracks pass over US 322 and then both squeeze between the curved side of a mountain and the river. Drivers headed sourth need to peek over their right shoulder to see Lady Liberty, but have a longer gaze of her across the highway on the drive north.
A local group of patriotic citizens, wanting to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the real statue in 1986, erected an 18 ft replica made of plywood and venetian blinds on one of the remaining abutment from the former Pennsylvania Rail Road Marysville Truss Bridge that crossed the Narrows in the mid-1800s. A half-dozen years later, wind sent that replica to its demise. However, the replica was so popular that funds were soon raised to build and erect a second – this one a sturdier 25 ft replica that continues to stand today. It is pictured above (photo from the Internet). An aerial video of the second Dauphin replica, set to the song Coming to America by Neil Diamond, can be found at:

The photos below, of course, are of the real Statue of Liberty in New York Harbor.
