Ornate

The Palace at Westminster (commonly known as the House of Parliament) is among the most famous buildings in the world. Still, few people realize how ornately carved the sand color limestone is that faces the building, including its three high towers - the most famous of which is the Elizabeth Tower (named in honor of the current Queen) that houses Big Ben.

According to Wikipedia, this is the second palace at this location. The first was built in the 1200s to serve as the primary residence for Kings of England. It became the home of Parliament in the early 1500s after a fire. A major fire also struck that Palace in 1834 destroyed all but a few portions of the medieval structure. Those few surviving portions were incorporated into the design of the Palace of Westminster that stands today.
