The Clan

This past weekend was the Stauffer Reunion in Ashland, OH. The reunion was held on the farm once owned by Sue’s parents, James and Helen Stauffer, and before that her maternal grandparents, Claude and Edith McMillen (see 6/28/18 Blog Entry). It is now owned by a grandchild of James and Helen and her husband. The 60+ folks in the photo comprise the four generations of descendant who followed from James and Helen.

The original section of the house dates from the early 1800s at which time the kitchen was in the basement - a fireplace there served both for cooking and heating. Over the past decade the current owners have put a great deal of personal work into the property: completing remodeling the house, replacing the original barn and turning fields that once grew corn and soybeans into pasture for horses. It made the perfect place for the family reunion.
