No Ordinary Stacks

These stacks are part of the old library at Trinity College in Dublin, the most prestigious college in Ireland, which was founded in 1592 by Queen Elizabeth I. Today, the old library is mainly known for the Book of Kells. It is an hand copied and decorated manuscript of four New Testament gospels thought to have been created in 800 AD in a monastery founded by St. Columbanus in either Britain or Ireland. The Gospels are displayed in a darkened room under protective glass to conserve them. They could not be photographed - the image below is from the Internet.
