Another Mud Job

Yes, I am re-doing another bathroom with assistant from our son during the first few weeks. (See May 18 & 24 and June 8 Blog entries.)

Former shower alcove and end wall removed.

Plumbing moved to fit new alcove.

New 2x4 end replaced former 2x3 wall with water and electric rough-ins.

Three piece alcove installed plumbing completed.

Drywalled around alcove.

Hardi board installed on floor.

Leveler poured.

I will add photos as progress continues.

8/26/19: Tiled and grouted over the shower alcove.

9/1/19: Replaced a piece of drywall that was misfitted 30 years ago we I built the bathroom.

9/16/19: Walls primed.

9/24/19: Reconditioned finish on the vanity and prepare doorways to accept oak sills to transition between bedrooms' rug and bathroom floor.

9/26/19: Removed dikes installed to prevent floor leveler leaks and back-filled so sheet vinyl can be installed (floor no sufficiently stiff to accept ceramic tile as originally planned), Oak sills prepared.

10/16/19 - To avoid aggravating a pinched nerve, the sheet vinyl was laid today by a contractor, though it required a four-week wait. This opened the door to me finishing the bathroom over the next week. The oak sills were installed between the bathroom and bedroom and door cut to length, and the vanity was reinstalled with new faucets and drain.

Baseboard made of tile pieces was installed, the toilet flange was rebuilt and new toilet installed, and the shower was trimmed using PVC board.

10/23/19 - Finally finished (except for a few hooks, etc.). Now it is onto putting back together the two adjacent bedrooms - used as a work room and furniture storage. (The photos below look curved because they were taken with a fish-eye lens.)
