At a little over 20,000 feet, Mt. Denali is the tallest mountain in the Alaska Range and North American. It was originally named Mt. McKinley in 1896 by a prospector after William McKinley, who was a presidential candidate at the time. A clear view of Denali is very unusual, even when the surrounding weather may be good, given the mountain creates it own weather - clouds. This impressive photo was take by a friend, Bill S., who visits the area frequently. Sue and I leave today to experience Denali National Park. We will share our photos in future posts, but please don't expect them to be of the same quality as Bill's photo.
