The Stand-In

Though the Penn State World Campus offers over 100 undergraduate and graduate degree and certificate programs at a distance, it is common for graduating students and their families to come to the University Park campus to attend graduation each semester. They come because they want to set foot on and see campus, meet faculty members who taught classes they completed, interact with World Campus staff who provided academic services, and meet fellow students. The World Campus holds a reception and recognition program on the Saturday of each graduation weekend that help facilitate those interactions.

This weekend will be one of those Saturdays. During the program graduates will be called forward to receive a small gift. During the years I was Director of Academic Programs with World Campus, it was my honor to make the presentations.

A most memorable presentation was to the young niece of a graduate who stood-in for her uncle while he attending his graduation ceremony. WE ARE - PENN STATE.
