The Central Railroad State of New Jersey was built in 1889. Over its 78 years of service, it was also known as the Jersey City Terminal. "The terminal was one of five passenger railroad terminals that lined the Hudson Waterfront during the 19th and 20th centuries, the others being Weehawken, Hoboken, Pavonia and Exchange Place, with Hoboken being the only station that is still in use." Today, the terminal is part of Libetry Park. One can catch a ferry to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island from the terminal (photo below), which is what brought us there in 2008. I found the structure and workmanship of the roof truss system to be fascinating.
