Z is for...

Z is for Zoom and Z is for the Zaandam, two contracting references in this time of COVID-19.

Zoom is a great digital tool for making of best of stay-at-home orders and social distancing. It is wonderful to see and talk with family, even if it is via a computer, and to know they are safe and doing well. (I added the second screen shot, which is from Easter Day, April 12th.)

On the other hand, you hear of situations such as the MS Zaandam and her Holland America sister ship the MS Rotterdam. Both have been turned away by multiple ports in South and Central America because a number of passengers of both ships have COVID-19. They currently are seeking port in Miami. Sue and I have a connection with the Zaandam. We traveled to Yellowstone National Park and other NW sites, and then cruised up to Alaska and back in 2007 with her three siblings and their spouses in 2007. We very fondly look back on the trip and cruising on the Zaandam - the following photo is of the Zaandam in port at Skagway, AK - but the situation on board today must be horrifying.
