Verona

Verona is a city in northeast central Italy on the Adige River best known today as a cultural center. The city’s Roman foundation can be seen literally under current street surfaces, in the amphitheater, and architectural remnants that survive.

To most visitors Verona is the “city of love,” a reputation originating from Romeo and Juliet - one of two plays by Shakespeare set in Verona. A balcony on the so call house of Juliet and nearby walls where lovers leave messages, are very popular attractions.

The market in the Piazza dei Signori is a good place to mix with the locals.
