Farthest Point East (10/20/20)

A few miles (kilometers if you are Canadian) south-east of the city of St. John's on the island of Newfoundland is Cape Spear. It is the farthest point east in the northern hemisphere. What's there? The Cape Spear Lighthouse National Historic Site with two generations of light houses, retired gun batteries from WW II, whales during their migration, the occasional iceberg, and a constant cutting wind that at points will "blow the man down."

The first lighthouse, which looks more like a house, was build in 1836. The more traditional design dates to the mid-1950.
