A friend and I took advantage of some late winter warm weather to ride Lower Rail-Trail. As we approached the decorative covered bridge on the trail a few hundred feet from Mt. Etna Station, a trail access point, we heard a sound that resembled ducklings to a degree. When we looked over the rail of the covered bridge what we saw were a swarm of frogs in the sill water pool under the bridge. The warm weather had brought the frogs out of hibernation and the males were singing to attract the females in a spring matting rectal.
The colors in the photos of the pool are as interesting as the behavior of the frogs.
