PD Boxing 7/14/21



Exercise is recommended by physicians as a means to help manage the symptoms of Parkinson’s Disease (PD), especially exercises that focus on strength, flexibility, agility, reaction time, and balance. PD has run in my wife's family for at least the last three generations, so her exercise regimen includes yoga, pilates, weights, walking, biking, swimming, as along with mental and jig-saw puzzles.




Recently, she joined a Boxing for PD class offered twice a week by a local fitness center, led by a former Penn State wrestler. The early segment of the hour long class includes balance and agility work, with the last third boxing. She has noticed improved balance, mobility, and reaction time, and enjoys the added socialization – so much so that we practice at home.
