The most popular campus location for current students, alumni and Penn State fans to have photos taken, the Nittany Lion Shrine, is open again after being closed for two-weeks for repairs. As per my 5/8/22 Blog entry, the Shrine was vandalized over graduation weekend - painted red and the left ear broken. Old Main and the Alumni Center also were vandalized with red paint.
A sculptor was engaged to repair the broken left ear and a protective coating re-applied to the statue (Centre Daily Times 5/27/22). The repair to the Lion's left ear is less noticeable than a previous repair to the right ear. Still, the vertical break line can be seen.
It is great to have the Shrine open again.
(Note: The photo immediately above, which shows the damage to the Lion's left ear, is less clear because it is an enlarged segment of a photo from my 5/8/22 Blog entry taken with an iPhone 12 over a distant construction fence.)
